Product Overview
High-quality enzyme products.
Well-established quality management system.
Reaction
(2E,6E)-farnesyl diphosphate = (1R,4R,5S)-(–)-guaia-6,10(14)-diene + diphosphate
Systematic Name
(2E,6E)-farnesyl-diphosphate diphosphate-lyase [cyclizing, (1R,4R,5S)-(–)-guaia-6,10(14)-diene-forming]
Function
The original enzyme (STC5) from the fungus Fusarium fujikuroi is inactive because of a critically naturally occuring mutation that leads to an asparagine to lysine exchange in the NSE (Asn-Ser-Glu) triad, a highly conserved motif of type I terpene cyclases. Sequence correction by site-directed mutagenesis (K288N) restores activity.
Other name
STC5 (gene name)
