Caulococcus Cultivation

Caulococcus has spherical cells approximately 0.5 microns in diameter. They can be connected by filaments of about 0.1 microns in diameter. In the accumulation of bacterial micelles, reproduction occurs in the form of budding. Young cells can move. Microcolonies are up to 0.3 mm thick and have a surface structure of reticulate protrusions. Its shape is irregular or round. Some are nearly black radiating lobed (rare) or hairy bulbs (rare). The edges of the microcolonies often have radial streaks composed of bifurcated filamentous cells. Spherical cells are fewer in radial split-leaf colonies and more in round, densely shelled colonies.

Caulococcus is microaerobic. Its precipitates are mainly Mn3+ (80-90%) and some Fe3+ (20-10%). The bacteria can be transferred with a sample of mud and then observed by microcapillary technique.

Originally found in large quantities in Khepo-yarvi Lake, especially in mineral deposits; often observed in upper reducing formations, in the upper layers of sediment deposits, or in bottom water covering the mud surface. In addition, Caulococcus has also been observed in some other lakes in these regions.

Caulococcus Culture Service

Creative Biogene offers customizable Caulococcus strain culture services. This service can help you obtain Caulococcus cultures for subsequent scientific research. This service allows you to skip the complicated and tedious groping of culture conditions, which helps to speed up research on this strain.
